What Is Elderberry Bloom Tea?

Elderberry Bloom Tea is a loose leaf herbal tea built on dried elderberry — daily antioxidant & vitality tea, blended and packed at our Virginia farm-based apothecary. There is no tea leaf in it and no caffeine; every ingredient in the tin is a whole botanical you can see. Because dried elderberries are dense, this tea is simmered rather than steeped — ten to fifteen minutes at a gentle simmer is what opens the berry up and gives you the full color, body and flavor it is capable of.

Meet Our Elderberry Bloom Tea

A vibrant daily-use antioxidant blend. Deep purple in the cup — add lemon and watch it shift to bright magenta! Elderberry, hibiscus, rosehips, tulsi, butterfly blue pea flower, and lemongrass. Serve hot or over ice.

The Color Shift Is Real

Butterfly blue pea flower is naturally pH sensitive. Brewed with elderberry and hibiscus the cup comes out a deep purple; add a squeeze of lemon or lime and it turns bright magenta in front of you. It is not a gimmick added to the blend — the flower is there for its antioxidants, and the color change comes free.

Daily Antioxidant & Vitality Tea: Tart and bright — hibiscus and rosehips lead, elderberry gives it depth, tulsi adds a warm peppery note and lemongrass finishes it clean. Naturally sharp rather than sweet, which is exactly why it works over ice.

Elderberry Bloom Tea Ingredients

Every ingredient in our Elderberry Bloom Tea is there for a reason. Here is the full list, exactly as it appears on the label:

  • Elderberry (Sambucus nigra fruit) – Tart, deep-colored, antioxidant-rich.
  • Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) – Bright, cranberry-like tartness and vivid color.
  • Rosehips (Rosa canina) – Tangy, a classic source of vitamin C.
  • Holy Basil / Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum) – Warm and slightly peppery, traditionally an adaptogen.
  • Butterfly Blue Pea Flower (Clitoria ternatea) – The flower behind the purple-to-magenta color shift.
  • Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) – A clean citrus lift on the finish.

Taste, Texture & Aroma

Tart and bright — hibiscus and rosehips lead, elderberry gives it depth, tulsi adds a warm peppery note and lemongrass finishes it clean. Naturally sharp rather than sweet, which is exactly why it works over ice.

Our Virginia Farm-Based Apothecary Approach

+

Serene Tree Apothecary is a Virginia farm-based herbal apothecary. We blend and bottle in small batches, we label plainly, and we put the warnings on the front of the tea rather than hiding them on the back. If something in a formula needs care — a cycling window, a medication interaction, an age limit — you will find it stated in full above.

What Makes Our Elderberry Bloom Tea Different?

+
  • Genuinely everyday – no echinacea, so no eight-week cycling and no time limit.
  • The color shift is from the plant – butterfly blue pea flower is naturally pH sensitive. Add lemon and it turns magenta in the cup.
  • Built to be iced – the only one of our three elderberry teas designed for cold brewing over ice.
  • Tart rather than sweet – hibiscus and rosehips lead, so it works without sugar.

The Everyday Elderberry Tea — and the One That Changes Color

Built for Every Day

Warrior Tea is for when you are getting sick and Night Tea is for bedtime. Bloom is the one you can drink every day of the year. There is no echinacea to cycle off and nothing sedating in it, hot in the winter and over ice in the summer.

A Closer Look at the Flavor

Tart and bright — hibiscus and rosehips lead, elderberry gives it depth, tulsi adds a warm peppery note and lemongrass finishes it clean. Naturally sharp rather than sweet, which is exactly why it works over ice.

Elderberry Bloom Tea FAQ

Why does Elderberry Bloom Tea have to be simmered?

+

Dried elderberries need heat and time. Simmer the tea and water together for 10–15 minutes rather than steeping — that is what gives you the full color and body. You can chill the strained tea afterwards for iced tea.

How do I get the color change?

+

Brew and strain as normal — the cup will be deep purple. Squeeze in fresh lemon or lime and it shifts to bright magenta almost instantly. The butterfly blue pea flower reacts to the acidity.

Can I drink this every day?

+

Yes. Unlike our Warrior Tea, there is no echinacea in this blend, so there is no eight-week limit and no need to cycle off it.

What does it taste like?

+

Tart and bright, closer to a cranberry or hibiscus tea than to a berry dessert tea. Lemongrass keeps the finish clean. Honey suits it if you prefer it sweeter.

Is it good iced?

+

It is the best of our three for iced tea. Brew it as directed, strain, and pour over ice — or chill it in the fridge and add lemon just before serving.

Is it caffeine free?

+

Yes. There is no tea leaf in the blend.

Who should check with a doctor first?

+

Hibiscus may lower blood pressure, so speak to your healthcare provider if you take antihypertensive medication. Tulsi may interact with blood thinners and diabetes medication. Not for use in pregnancy without healthcare provider consultation.

How should I store it?

+

Cool, dry, out of the sun and sealed. Twelve months sealed, about six months once opened.
