What Is Elderberry Fortress Tincture?
Elderberry Fortress Tincture is a concentrated alcohol extraction of elderberry and supporting botanicals, made in small batches at our Virginia farm-based apothecary and bottled in 2 fl oz amber glass with a graduated dropper. A tincture gives you the botanicals in a measured dose you can take in water, juice or tea in under a minute — no brewing, no simmering and no straining. The alcohol both extracts the constituents and preserves them, which is why a sealed bottle keeps for about two years.

Alcohol Does What the Stove Does
Raw elderberry contains glycosides that need to be dealt with before the berry is safe to take — with tea, that is what the ten-minute simmer is for. In a tincture, the alcohol extraction handles it. That is why Fortress needs no preparation at all: drops into water and you are done.
Immune Defense Tincture: Sharp and warming. Tart elderberry up front, an earthy echinacea middle and a ginger burn on the finish. Most people take it in a little water, juice or tea rather than straight.
Elderberry Fortress Tincture Ingredients
Every ingredient in our Elderberry Fortress Tincture is there for a reason. Here is the full list, exactly as it appears on the label:
- Elderberry (Sambucus nigra fruit) – Anthocyanin-rich, the base of the extract.
- Echinacea Root (Echinacea purpurea) – The traditional first-sign-of-illness botanical.
- Rosehips (Rosa canina) – A classic source of vitamin C.
- Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale) – Warming, and aids absorption.
- Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) – Long used in cold-season preparations.
- Grain Alcohol (60%) (menstruum) – The solvent that pulls the constituents out and preserves them.
- Distilled Water (menstruum) – Balances the extraction.

Why an Alcohol Extraction, and Why 60%
Made in Small Batches in Virginia
Every batch is extracted, pressed and bottled at our Virginia farm-based apothecary into amber glass with a graduated dropper. Amber glass because light is the enemy of a good extract, and a graduated dropper because 30 drops should mean 30 drops.
